Mary Winther is the Director of Education at the Institute for Principle Studies, based in Modesto, CA. Mary’s late husband Mike, founded IPS in 2005 and served as the President until his death in 2021. The goal of IPS is to teach government, economics, and education from a Biblical perspective. Mary received degrees in secondary education and political science. She has been a strong advocate of Christian private education through homeschooling, as well as brick and mortar schools. Mary has been involved in the founding of two different speech and debate leagues; one for homeschool students and one for private Christian schools. Her current work in this area is to keep all forms of education Christian, private and free from government encroachment. Looking at the proper Biblical role of civil government has been a passion of Mary’s as she continues to teach at events for IPS, as well as other Christian organizations. She has also been a speaker for adults and students at conferences and conventions.
