How to Choose the Right Curriculum for Your F.A.M.I.L.Y.
Covered in This Session:
- Recognizing what makes your family and homeschool unique
- Ways to filter through overwhelming advice and make the best decisions
- Evaluating what are the most important things for your family’s homeschool
- Making curriculum work for your family – not the other way around
Gina and her husband Carl have been married for 37 years. They homeschooled their three children that are now adults and have careers of their own. When she began homeschooling, she recognized the need to reach out to other homeschoolers to encourage them and also be encouraged. She started a support group with monthly get togethers, field trips, and library days that quickly grew to serve multiple families from surrounding areas. She and her family also had an invaluable opportunity to travel as a family every spring and summer to homeschool conventions. This gave them a perfect occasion to work as a family and meet other homeschoolers from all over the country. Assisting families at conventions helped her realize we all have unique and special circumstances, and there is no right or wrong way to homeschool. The common bond is that we deeply love our children and have a conviction to accept the responsibility of educating them and helping each of them reach their full potential. Gina now works in the office at Rainbow Resource as a curriculum consultant to serve homeschoolers with their individual needs.
