Covered in This Session:

  • Ways to prepare for high school while still in the younger years
  • Practical tips for parents transitioning into the “guidance counselor” role
  • How to successfully teach high school while still teaching elementary and middle school
  • Setting graduation requirements, creating transcripts, navigating testing, and deciding if dual enrollment is right for you
Deanne Crawford began her homeschool journey in 1997, graduating her youngest in 2013. Blessed with children on both sides of the learning spectrum, she adapted her homeschool to best meet their individual needs in light of their future aspirations. Today, her daughter is a registered nurse and her son attends community college and works for a Christian talk radio channel. Believing that homeschooling was a tremendous blessing for her family, she confesses it was also the most challenging thing she has ever done. Deanne joined Rainbow in 2011 and is passionate about encouraging and equipping the next generation of homeschoolers.
Homeschooling is a way of life for Janice Price — she has consulted at Rainbow since 2003, and homeschooled her own three children for 20 years (from kindergarten through high school graduation) before that. Married to Scott for 39 years, their three children are all university graduates and their seven grandchildren are now second-generation homeschoolers. As with many homeschooling moms, Janice has worn various related hats — coordinator of a new-to-homeschooling support group, consultant for Westbridge Academy (an umbrella school for home educated, gifted students), administrator of Peoria Co-Operative Academy (a history-based unit study co-op and support school); and exhibit hall coordinator for the local homeschool convention. Janice has a B.A. from Phillips University and a M.Ed. from Idaho State University. Before her wife, mother, and homeschooling career, Janice worked for almost 10 years in student personnel at four different universities.
