Bonus Session
The Power of Kingdom-Focused Moms
Covered in This Session:
- God is in this homeschooling thing. God is bigger than the problems you’re having and He wants to use homeschooling in this country. He will protect and guide your family.
- We can get overwhelmed by the tyranny of the urgent and build up things in our mind that aren’t true.
- The Lord is faithful to lead us as we wander, to give us purpose and help to fulfill that purpose, and to show us things we never thought we could do.
Zan Tyler homeschooled her three children from kindergarten through high school for a total of 21 years. When Zan began homeschooling in 1984, she was threatened with jail by the State Superintendent of Education in SC. Little did she know then that this would lead to an eight-year journey of freedom-fighting for homeschoolers in her state. Zan founded the South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools (SCAIHS), which allows homeschoolers to homeschool legally and with tons of support — without ever having to interact with the public school system. Zan also founded Excelsior Academy (co-op) in the 1990s, which is still going strong today. It is a great generational blessing to Zan and Joe that their grandchildren are now members of SCAIHS and Excelsior. Zan is currently working with BJU Press Homeschool and HomeWorks by Precept as an ambassador, and helps with writing projects for HSLDA. Encouraging homeschool moms is a driving purpose in her life because she truly believes that homeschool moms are kingdom builders.
